About Tsukihana

Tsukihana is a small atelier in Hyōgo, Japan, dedicated to giving new life to vintage Japanese obi — the richly woven sashes traditionally worn with kimono. Each piece we create carries the quiet memory of the textile’s past, transforming cultural heritage into modern accessories meant to be worn, cherished, and passed on.

Our work begins with carefully selected vintage obi, chosen for their motifs, craftsmanship, and the stories woven into every thread. Peonies symbolizing prosperity, phoenixes bringing harmony, clouds that foretell good fortune — these timeless patterns are not simply designs, but expressions of Japan’s poetic philosophy.

At Tsukihana, every item is handcrafted one by one. From cutting the fabric to shaping belts and bags, we consider the placement of each motif so its beauty can be fully revealed. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece that cannot be repeated — a harmony of tradition, elegance, and contemporary style.

Our mission is to preserve the artistry of Japanese textiles while creating accessories that resonate with people around the world. By wearing Tsukihana, you carry a fragment of Japan’s cultural heritage: the shimmer of silk, the quiet glow of gold thread, and the enduring spirit of craft inherited through generations.

This is the heart of Tsukihana: honoring the past, crafting for the present, and offering beauty that lasts into the future.
